NYS TROOPER CZARNECKI
WIFE. DAUGHTER. SISTER. FRIEND.

This was Jennifer Czarnecki. She meant so much to so many people. She battled Triple Negative/Metastatic Breast Cancer courageously from 2018 to 2020. We hope you will be inspired by her story and desire to help us in our fight to financially support women diagnosed with Triple Negative/Metastatic Breast Cancer.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: REMEMBERING JENNIFER

Jennifer was born on August 25th, 1973. She went to Queen of Peace, Queen of Martyrs, Villa Maria High School, and then attended Bryant and Stratton College. She finally finished her Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Hilbert college during 1997. Jennifer worked in family court for a few years but eventually decided to make a change in her life. In early 2000, she applied to become a New York State Trooper and started the NYS Police Academy in October of 2000. Jennifer graduated from the academy and became a New York State Trooper in May of 2001. Just soon after, the devastating attack on the Twin Towers in New York City struck, shocking our country and the world. The attack on 9/11 required all the help and resources that could be provided. At that time, Jennifer was in State Police (SP) Oneida. She was told to pack a bag, along with her gear, and report to Ground Zero. Jennifer arrived at the site of Ground Zero on September 14th and started working the day after. She assisted at different traffic posts but most of her time was at the temporary morgue. She had long days, 12-16 hour shifts, and eventually left on September 20th. Jennifer was deployed four more times up until December 26th, where she returned to SP Oneida. In 2003, Jennifer returned home and began working at SP Jamestown. The summer of 2003 is when I met the love of my life, Jennifer, when she bought me a drink at Dock at the Bay (thank you, babe). After SP Jamestown she transferred to SP Boston until August of 2007.

Jennifer went on to do numerous assignments for the NYS Police. In the late summer of 2007, she joined the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), where she was assigned to do undercover work. To make sure she fit the part completely, Jennifer went to work in my old concert t-shirts and my beat up work sweatshirts. September 14th, 2007, we got married. It was the happiest day of our lives. Jennifer changed her path again in 2009 when she transferred from CNET to SP Fredonia. From January of 2009 to July of 2010, she was a Student Resource Officer (SRO) for Pine Valley School District. Jennifer finally found a job that was exactly what she wanted to do; working with children and helping with safety procedures. Due to lack of funding from NYS, her role as a Student Resource Officer ended and therefore went back on patrol in SP Fredonia. Another favorite summer assignment was the Erie County fair, where she worked for seven years, from 2010-2017.

Jennifer’s final tour was in SP Boston (2015-2018). In June of 2018, she was out of work due to a back injury. Jennifer never returned because she was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2018. At the time of her diagnosis, she was told the first five years were the most crucial and her cancer was determined to be at stage 2B. Jennifer’s diagnosis was considered caught early but would need to go through several rounds of intense chemotherapy and radiation. Jennifer received a lumpectomy in early 2019, where it was discovered the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. The surgery was successful due to the removal of 17 lymph nodes. The surgeon met all margins but since her cancer type was triple negative, there was a high risk of the cancer returning. In the fall of 2019, Jennifer was placed in remission and was able to get her port removed. However, by early 2020, she started to not feel good. After some examination, Jennifer was told that she had a form of GERD (acid reflux), due to the chemotherapy. The cancer actually attacked her liver and bones. In late May, Jennifer was diagnosed at stage 4C and given 2 to 4 years left to live. She received another round of chemotherapy, along with immunotherapy, until October of 2020. The NYS Police retired her on November 3rd, 2020.We did as much as we possibly could during chemotherapy breaks and when she felt up to it. She fought like hell but in the end, the cancer took over her body and she couldn’t fight anymore. Jennifer lost her life on December 5th, 2020 (EOW).

I would like to extend my gratitude to Jennifer’s family and friends for supporting her on this journey. With your love and support, she was able to find the strength to fight every day. I would also like to give a special thanks to Roswell Park and especially Dr. Kadeem and his staff at Great Lakes for their continued care and kindness.

Above all, I would like to thank you for everything, Jennifer. I will never forget you and all of our time together. My life will never be the same without you in it. You are the love of my life. I will see you in my dreams. Rest in peace, babe, you deserve it. See you soon. I love you. Forever and for always.

Sincerely,

Brian Czarnecki Husband and President of the Jennifer M. Czarnecki FDN, Inc.

More Information on Triple-Negative Breast Cancer:

Triple-negative breast cancer is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer to have. "Triple-negative" refers to the three receptors (proteins), known to fuel cancer growth, coming back negative in tests. This will lead to faster growth and the spreading of cancer (metastatic) more quickly than other types of breast cancers. Also, treatment for triple-negative breast cancer is much more limited. This is just a quick overview of what it actually is; however, if you would like to read more about the diagnosis, symptoms, treatment process, etc., please feel free to use our attached links below.
